PURPOSE OF SMALL GROUPS The main goal of a small group is to meet the needs of students through sharing experiences and allowing students to express themselves in a safe setting, while learning new tools to cope. This year students will be placed in a group based on all of the needs indicated at time of referral. Referrals can and will be made by parents, legal guardians, teachers, administrators, and students themselves! Unlike previous years, these groups will facilitate growth and coping for various needs at once rather than remaining focused on one area of concern. Some situational concerns (e.g. death/grief, divorce/parental separation) will most likely still be addressed in a group specific to students' experiences. |
MEETING FREQUENCY & FURTHER NEEDS: Each group will meet approximately 5 to 6 times. If you feel your child needs support beyond what is offered in group sessions, please contact [email protected] to discuss your specific concerns.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS: For additional details about specific student concerns and related coping methods that may be introduced in group format, please click on "MORE INFO" below.
EXTRA SUPPORT: Caregivers know their children the best and can have the biggest impact on their development and growth. In addition to (or en lieu of) small groups, meetings can be scheduled to offer parents or guardians support with addressing behaviors or concerns at home. Raising a child is one of the most rewarding responsibilities we are ever given, but this responsibility can be overwhelming (and scary) at times. You are not in this alone. If you'd like to meet to discuss your specific concerns, please email [email protected].
